Community Engagement Manager

Under direction of the Executive Vice-President Development and Communications, the Community Engagement Manager is an essential team member of the integrated revenue-generating department. The Community Engagement Manager function at Hospice of the Valley is charged with overseeing the implementation and evaluation of organizational community engagement activities, including Community Life, business development and outreach, educational programs, special events and other efforts to meet strategic objectives in support of Hospice of the Valley’s mission. The objective of the Community Engagement Manager is to increase awareness and overall census for Hospice of the Valley, including researching individual, corporate and foundation sponsorship prospects, and providing donor relations support for the organization.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Attend targeted community meetings and relevant events on behalf of Hospice of the Valley to better understand community interests and activities and provide regular feedback and reporting.
  • Compile information for Executive Vice President to regularly present to Hospice of the Valley Board and staff leadership.
  • Develop mechanisms for evaluation of engagement initiatives.
  • Distribute information to the community and broader publics through multiple channels.
  • Increase and expand interactive engagement and overall community, as well as maintain established community relationships and collaborations.
  • Identify, initiate, and deepen relationships with various community stakeholders.
  • Implement meetings, surveys, and other ways for communicating with, and receiving feedback from the community about Hospice of the Valley and its programs and services.
  • Oversee and distribute information to Hospice of the Valley’s staff and volunteers regarding engagement activities through specific outlets including Community Life initiative.
  • Successfully integrate engagement work into organization and enlist the support of staff to do so.
  • Schedule, implement, and recommend new community-based programs, partnerships, and other engagement activities.
  • Work closely with Hospice of the Valley liaisons in coordination of community engagement activities.

We Require:

  • 2 years of community engagement including strategic partnerships and sponsorships Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent years of applicable experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills..
  • Ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects with high visibility and priority.
  • Ability to work under time constraints on a variety of projects and tasks.

Marketing Communications Manager

Position Summary:
Under direction of the Executive Vice-President Development and Communications, the Marketing Communications Manager is an essential team member of the integrated department. The Marketing Communications Manager function at Hospice of the Valley is charged with developing, establishing, and maintaining marketing strategies to meet organizational objectives in support of Hospice of the Valley’s mission, including effective management of marketing, communications, advertising and promotional activities (traditional, social media, online and Web site).

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement marketing plans and projects for new and existing programs and services including the development of pricing strategy, promotional plans and target audience.
  • Oversee and implement the creation and production of marketing and development communications, including advertising and collateral. Marketing collateral includes but is not limited to, brochures, photo/video, newsletters, and promotional items.
  • Develop and maintain communications brand guidelines for the organization.
  • Manage the organization’s e-communications and strategy, including social media, email marketing, and Web site content and updates.
  • Work with all of Hospice of the Valley staff to collaborate and conduct market research, including current market conditions and competitor information.
  • Monitor, review and report on all marketing activity and results.
  • Monitor industry best practices.
  • Report on return on investment and key performance metrics.
  • Analyze and track Web site and social media usage and make recommendations for SEO, content, user interface and resources.
  • Assist in developing and monitoring annual marketing budget.
  • Oversee procurement purchasing and internal/external client service needs with regard to marketing objectives.
  • Responsible to develop and maintain all vendor relationships; negotiate contracts and monitor vendor performance.
  • Serve as an active prospect identifier, targeting prospects for development purposes. Make creative connections between and among people, events, programs, and their associated circles.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, public relations or related field, in addition to 5 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in marketing communications production and distribution.
  • Innovative and creativity in marketing strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and direct professional, administrative and volunteer personnel.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of customers and a desire to exceed customer expectations.
  • Ability to work in an environment that demands flexibility, decisiveness and humor.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills, including ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Demonstrates a can-do strong team spirit.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Understanding of the hospice concept of care.
  • Familiarity with the community and resources in Santa Clara County.

Required Technology Skills:

  • Overall Proficient skill-level in Microsoft Office, which includes: Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and basic computer concepts.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Working knowledge of Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge.
  • Working knowledge of social media tools and Expression Engine or other content management systems. HTML experience a plus.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new software.
