Make a meal, deliver supplies, enter patient information data, educate the community, listen to memories, give a hug, touch a heart, make a difference in someone's life, and yours. Hospice of the Valley treasures each of our dedicated volunteers. Every person has something special to contribute to our agency. You may choose to be involved directly with our patients and families or volunteer in other ways.

Bereavement Program
Committees – provide expertise in key areas to the agency’s governing body.

Governing Body – governance, policy making, fiduciary oversight and fund raising.
Fundraising – as a public benefit agency, assist with fund raising efforts.

Community Outreach - representing the agency in the community.

Clerical Support – fulfill clerical tasks to support the office operations of the agency.
Clinical Support – Volunteer RN’s, Chaplains, Home Health Aide’s, Medical Social Workers, Physicians, other.
Direct Patient Care – provide support to the families served. Activities may include, but are not restricted to, providing a break to the caregiver, running errands, making meals, light housekeeping and emotional support.
Transitions Program – volunteers support families facing a life limiting illness who are not eligible or not ready to seek hospice care.
Special Skills/Therapies – Massage, art, pet, other therapies. Provide language skills, hair dressing and other personal care needs.
Bereavement Program – Bereavement volunteersprovide support during the grieving process, and assistance at annual memorial services.
Training
Everyone interested in volunteering to work directly with our patients and their loved ones is required to attend the comprehensive Training Program (25 hours) offered twice annually, in the Spring and in the Fall. For all other volunteer opportunities a one day orientation is provided. These take place four times a year. On completion of the training, and acceptance into the program, Volunteers are required to regularly attend Support Meetings and on going training sessions. Hospice of the Valley requests a time commitment of 1 year, 3-5 hours per week.
