4th Annual Classics & Hot Rods Car Show Benefits HOV
Classics & Hot Rods of Campbell hosts the 4th Annual Classics & Hot Rods car show on Sunday, June 24, 2007 from 9:00am – 3:00pm at the Elks Lodge #2347, located at 1680 Martin Avenue in Santa Clara. The car show benefits Hospice of the Valley and honors the memory of the late Manny Costa and Jack Leopardi—long-time friends and avid car enthusiasts. It’s a day of fun and entertainment for the general public, admission is free. The car show will showcase over 90 custom, classic cars, trucks, motorcycles and hot rods, as well as a raffle, entertainment, refreshments, and an awards presentation. The car show will draw attention to hospice and grief support and raise needed funds for end-of-life care services and programs for adults and children facing life-limiting illnesses.

Sally Adelus is Honored with Heart of Hospice Award for Leadership
Sally Adelus, Chief Executive Officer of the Hospice of the Valley receives the Heart of Hospice Award for her continuous leadership. The National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization presented the Heart of Hospice awards at its 22nd Management and Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. held on Friday, April 20. The Heart of Hospice Awards, created to acknowledge outstanding work in the field of end-of-life care recognizes individuals who have attained repeated outstanding achievements in hospice and have made contributions with impact beyond hospice.

HOV receives Sobrato 2:1 Challenge Grant
Hospice of the Valley receives a 2:1 challenge matching grant from the Sobrato Family Foundation totaling up to $153,750 over a two-year period. The unrestricted funds will be used to support general operations and new funds raised will provide end-of-life care to underserved adults and children facing life-limiting illnesses.

HOV hosts annual western gala
Hospice of the Valley hosts its 27th Annual Western Gala—“Eureka” – 6:00 P.M., Friday, May 11, 2007 at The Summit Center on Fourth Street in downtown San Jose. Set in a stunning western-themed backdrop, the evening includes premium wine tasting, an elegant dinner, music, and a silent and live auction.

Hospice of the Valley will host Hospice Foundation of America’s 14th annual teleconference, live-via satellite, “Living With Grief: Before and After the Death” on Thursday, March 22, 2007 from 10:00am – 2:00pm at the Clarion Hotel in San Jose.

Berliner Cohen to receive prestigious award
Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Silicon Valley Chapter and Hospice of the Valley (HOV) announce that Berliner Cohen of San Jose will receive the chapter’s Outstanding Corporate Grantmaker (less than 300 employees) award for their philanthropic efforts.

HOV awarded grant
Hospice of the Valley (HOV) was awarded a grant from The Valley Foundation to further support and develop their palliative programs, facilitate expansion of core services, and promote early access to end-of-life care for underserved, low income families in Santa Clara County. This grant enables the organization to continue advancing their leadership role in the delivery of transitional support and end-of-life care.
Hospice of the Valley moving to new location
Hospice of the Valley announced plans to move its headquarters to a new location in San Jose to meet the community’s growing need for end-of-life care programs and services. The new building, located on Union Avenue near Highway 85, is being renovated to fit the agency’s needs toward increasing service to the community. We will be open for business in our new building on September 5, 2006.

Running for a Reason Receives Grant for Young People’s Community Impact
Running for a Reason (R4R), a school-based club that combines noncompetitive running, charity giving and fundraising activities benefiting Hospice of the Valley, was awarded a grant from Youth Venture. R4R was founded by two sisters and their younger brother, Katie, Julia and Sam Ransohoff, ages sixteen, fourteen and twelve, respectively, who are students in Palo Alto and Menlo Park, CA. The grant reaffirms young people's commitment to service and improving their neighborhoods and communities.
Youth Venture's grant will be used towards purchasing web software tools to further develop R4R's website, www.runningforareason.org, that promotes their commitment to improving quality of life through leadership, ingenuity and community impact by combining teamwork with non-varsity, noncompetitive athletics. R4R focuses on running and good health, while fundraising to benefit Hospice of the Valley. R4R's fundraising emphasis is on the children and their families Hospice of the Valley has the privilege to serve.
